Mixed: narrative review drawing on human, animal and cell research ยท Narrative review

Li W et al., Current Issues in Molecular Biology, 2025

A 2025 narrative (non-systematic) review of the vitiligo treatment pipeline, from an author group independent of the landmark, situates the baricitinib+NB-UVB trial among JAK-inhibitor studies. Its prose accurately states the week-36 VASI result (-44.8% vs -9.2% for placebo), that this did not surpass the prespecified 42.9% threshold, and that the between-group difference came from a post hoc analysis; however the review's clinical-trials table mislabels the same trial. The review frames combination therapy as, in its words, 'likely to remain the most promising approach' and lists tissue-resident memory (TRM) and regulatory T-cell targeting among emerging directions.
